Please don't tell them that ingested ethanol (=wine) ends up as water and CO2, otherwise somebody will outlaw alcoholic beverages altogether...

I going long on California Cabs and Syrahs and Oregon Pinots. Heck, I'll even go out on a limb and include those wild and surprising Santa Barbara Gewurtztraminers, which need those winter nights down in the 20s in the Santa Inez Valley. Nothing to see here, move along.

Looks like Gorvino is has been partaking in the finer foods and wines as he circles the globe. The top picture is older, the bottom more recent.

Lol, looks like a comparison of me 15 years apart. Damn I've turned into a fat bastard.

Grape growers are reasonably concerned with climate change because of the long-term capital commitments in vineyard operations. Glomming on to Al Gore is of course a political move related to the wine selling part of the business. If they don't fall for his baloney, the industry may be playing both ends quite intelligently.

Looking forward, allow that wines will lose ground to a very low priced flood of various gin and vodka like products.

Your imagination is running wild again. Oh really?

Always my contention has been that bio-fuels are a totally impractical fuel and only a stop-gap measure until battery, compressed air and the fuel cell become wide spread.

Governments encourage biofuels because they..

[1] Return great tax revenues.

[2] create employment

[3] Return votes from farmers.

[4] Keep the Military, municipalities and BIG corporations like Safeway humming when a refined gas and diesel emergency occurs. [ Safeway converted over 1000 trucks to bio-fuels. - AutoblogGreen.com ]

There is presently a huge stockpile of bio fuels in reserve, [ a glut], while there are only two full range bio-fuels stations open to the public in Canada.

Similar condition in the USA and huge Bio fuel capacity is still being built.

Brazil is 85% mobile on bio fuels.

When the strategic need for ethanols fade there will be a huge distilling capacity. Thus wine will be under stiff lower cost product competition.

You didn*t think side-swiping all that corn, sugar beet and sugar cane was going to last, did you? = TG

Won't Gore's extra 'baggage' in that bottom photograph mean he contributes even further to global warming as he flies his private jet to Madrid, spewing CO2 as he goes?

Why isn't he living in a commune without electricity or CO2? Doesn't he believe his own PowerPoint presentation?
